About the event
Earlier this year, during the Zone Code update process, many Methow residents submitted comments advocating for dark sky and ridgetop protections—requests that have been made for over a decade but repeatedly delayed or denied by the county. This time, something different happened: we were heard! The Planning Commission has recommended that the County Commissioners expand these protections across the valley. However, we need to raise a strong voice to make sure these changes apply to all new construction rather than only lodges, inns and campgrounds. Now is our moment to act!
Okanogan County is now accepting comments on the updated Zone Code through November 12. There are three main changes to the code that need our collective voice:
Making sure dark sky ordinances apply to all new buildings (this won’t affect existing homes) not just inns, lodges and campgrounds
